A conversation with Dr. Thomas Babila Sama
Dr. Thomas Babila Sama is a postdoctoral researcher at the Social and Public Policy Unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki, Finland. He holds a Doctor of Social Sciences Degree (Ph.D.) from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, which he earned in 2012.
His doctoral research explored the role of NGOs in implementing Active Labour Market Policies in Finland and Sweden. Over the years, Dr. Sama has been actively involved in research projects related to the academic mobility of migrant scholars in Finland. His extensive work with NGOs reflects his commitment to social inclusion and multiculturalism. He has served on the boards of several organizations promoting multiculturalism in Finland, including the African Association of Central Finland, where he was chairman for several years. Since 2017, he has also been a board member of the Society for the Study of Ethnic Relations and International Migration (ETMU).
Beyond academia, Dr. Sama is a devoted Catholic Christian who enjoys worshiping at church. In his free time, he loves to travel and play football.
