A conversation with Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Mustapha
Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Mustapha is an early-career researcher with a solid veterinary medicine and public health background. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a Master’s in Veterinary Public Health in Nigeria before becoming an Erasmus Scholar, completing an International Master in Infectious Diseases and One Health in 2020. He serves as a Veterinary Epidemiologist with the Kwara State Government in Nigeria. He is a Visiting Researcher with the Zoonotic Antimicrobial Resistance Research Group at the University of Helsinki in Finland. His research focuses on environmental microbiology, food safety, and infectious disease epidemiology. In this conversation, Dr. Al-Mustapha shares his academic journey, the challenges of practicing as a veterinarian in Finland, and his experiences working at the intersection of animal and human health.
